Gross Negligence:
A lack of care that shows reckless disregard for the safety or lives of others. It can be described as a conscious violation of others’ rights to safety. Gross negligence is considered an egregious and reckless form of negligence.
On March 6, 2018, a whistleblower alerted E. Scott Martin about Daniel Savala, a registered sex offender who had abused minors, gaining access to students due to his longstanding connections with the leadership at Sam Houston State University, who have supported him for decades. Despite this warning, E. Scott Martin and Jeff Alexander decided to take no further action. Consequently, on June 4, 2018, another warning was sent to AG Superintendent Doug Clay, urging him to investigate the matter due to Martin and Alexander's inadequate and misguided response.
Due to the inaction of the AG and Chi Alpha, more minors and students from multiple universities were sexually abused by Mr. Savala. This campaign aims to hold all leadership who know after 2018 of Daniel’s sex offender status accountable for their gross negligence and cover-up of this scandal.
